Excited to be the Bucknell Cycling Team coach for the 2012 season.
No matter what level you currently ride at, my goal is to help you make this the best, most enjoyable season ever. I work with riders from beginner to racer. If you have ever considered a coach or felt like you might be missing something, try me! My approach is hands on. I will ride with you so we can assess your position, style and technique and instruct you through demonstration and feedback. I do not consider myself a natural athlete. Since I had to learn how to do everything I make a great teacher. I’ll work with you month to month. No long term commitments are required because I believe once I open your eyes to your potential and you recognize the benefits I bring to your riding it will be an obvious decision to stay with it. I bring over 25 years of elite and professional riding with me to every session. Please contact me with any questions. I am almost always available by email or phone.

I look forward to speaking with you.
Sincerely,
Phil Cable.

Personally, I won two races after the coaching sessions and after a two year drought, so it must have been you!! The pedaling techniques were a real benefit for me. I had a good grasp on the positioning in the field and where to attack from, but I think the others had no idea about those ideas. One race following the sessions was good. We reviewed the strategy before the race and executed pretty well.
Take care,
Pete
Thank you for lots of great pointers, all your knowledge and your leading by example on our rides together. A Pa BAR Champion in just my third year of racing. Not bad.

Team Coaching
Every year it seems the regional race circuit is dominated by one team. It is not always the team with the most riders but rather the team with strong race wisdom. If you want your team to take control, I can help. My approach is to work efficiently with your team’s limited group training time. Our interaction begins with a confidential questionnaire for each team member. Once I have an understanding of the group dynamic we will set time to get out on the road. I believe as individual athletes we are all capable of riding at the same level. We like to think we know everything about team work. After all, we’ve seen it in the tour coverage. Right? We spend hours upon hours training but almost no time practicing what ultimately turns out to be the most critical points of each race. With just a few sessions we’ll have your team owning the races. Trust me. It’s a great feeling!
Team Instruction can be made flexible to meet your team’s financial and time constraint.
Phil,
I am Pres of Guy’s Racing. Sorry that I was unable to make your sessions due to work travel. The feedback from the sessions has been overwhelmingly positive, and I wanted to thank you for your time.
It is pretty safe to say that continuing the program would be a benefit to all. We will need to discuss timeframes, topics, etc and Pete will coordinate with you. That is, making the assumption that you want to come back down to work with us.
Regards,
Bob Piacine

This Fall, Group Session(s) on the trainer where I break bad habits and instill correct thinking. These are basically cram sessions from my popular Watts Up programs. These are not spin classes or fitness classes. These are technique and mental strategies to keep you out of trouble and able to stay on the offense instead of defense. I help you find more power at any fitness level.
Then, as the weather breaks we will hit the road and the class room together to put everyone on the same page, what to do and how and when to do it. Constructive criticisms and praise where needed. Things much more easily heard and best left to a third party rather than a teammate. We will capitalize on individuals strengths and your team will take control of the rhythm of the race!

Phil,
I just wanted to thank you for sharing you time and knowledge through the Watts Up class. The class was very informative, not just a spinning class. I took away a lot to improve my form and efficiency.
I tell my family and friends that I have been riding bicycle all my life and didn’t know, that I didn’t know how to ride a bicycle.
Thank you again,

Hi coach,
Just a quick note from my phone to let you know how pleased I am with
the results so far.
I feel like I was able to set goals and race hard right from the start
this spring. If I hadn’t been working with you I would have goals
like “finish with the pack” or “see what a race is really like”. I’m
having a lot more fun and learning a lot quicker than I would be on my
own. I can’t wait until the training crits are done and the real
races start!
Thanks again,
Tom

Hey Phil,
Hope you and your family had a nice Easter. I just got my WATTS up shirt from Mark, it is really nice. I also want to let you know that I have been out riding. My performance on the bike has improved quite a bit thanks to the strength training we did over the winter. I am able to maintain 2 to 3 miles faster on the flats and I don’t have to go to the Granny gear to climb the big hills anymore. I am also using a lot of your suggestions for pedaling technique. It is helping a lot. I would recommend your course to anyone. Plus we had a good time.
I am sure I will be seeing you on the road, and thanks for the shirt.

A working mom with two young kids, dogs and limitless responsibilities, I have always enjoyed riding but never thought I had all the extra time to spend getting better. Then I found out about Phil’s coaching. Phil was great because I was able to learn when it was most convenient for me. Phil was really great with email and phone conversations to keep me on track when I couldn’t meet with him. Phil took those few rides and taught me so much to improve my riding. I learned pedal stoke efficiency, bike positioning, and how to sprint. He also took time to show me my strengths and weakness on the bike so I could work on areas I needed the most help. I am now riding stronger and more efficiently than ever. With my new confidence on the bike I have completed my first mountain bike race and also a triathlon.
Thanks again,
Corinne
